Exhibit Systems is very proud to announce we have purchased the assets of Green Tree Designs. The move expands our capabilities in exhibit design and custom fabrication to bring our clients even more display options.

Exhibit Systems has always been a premier display and exhibit company offering one-stop service for trade shows and events. We are very excited to expand our manufacturing and design capabilities by purchasing the assets of Milwaukee-based Green Tree Designs.

The move adds exhibit design and the creation of custom wood fabrication to our production capacity as we celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2012. We acquired the assets of Green Tree Designs’ including equipment, materials, and inventory, in addition to adding key personnel on February 28. We will continue to be a leading manufacturer of displays built with lightweight, durable modular components.

“The addition of the former Green Tree Designs assets will provide our customers with an even greater choice of in-house custom-built displays,” said Richard Magliocco, President of Exhibit Systems. “They will have more options than ever to ‘Build a Better Image’ at each trade show, meeting, or event they attend.”

This acquisition uniquely positions Exhibit Systems as one of the Midwest’s leaders in custom, modular, and portable exhibit design, construction, and exhibit property management.

“This is a value-added win for clients of Green Tree Designs too,” said Mark Mittelstadt, former Creative Director, who has joined the Exhibit Systems staff. “Our clients will benefit from Exhibit Systems’ custom modular designs and portable displays, top-grade logistics, warehousing, and real-time online ordering and property management software.” Green Tree Designs was located on Milwaukee’s northwest side for over 15 years. It was previously known as Creative Works.

Exhibit Systems continues to have a passion for tailoring outstanding, custom, face-to-face marketing solutions that are 100 percent satisfaction guaranteed by providing our customers complete turnkey production, show services, transportation and storage of displays, plus event planning services. Employing the talents of an experienced, professional staff of trade show and marketing experts, we continue to help customers “Build an Even Better Image” one event at a time.

At a recent seminar presented by a Google marketing executive, she discussed the growing popularity of on-line searches, social media and the use of websites to investigate a potential customer or vendor. She made some very strong points, and in fact I agree with her, we all use the web for research.

But one of her slides included some percentages that are too interesting to pass up. While using search engines and websites to research potential clients is at the top the list, being used 66% of the time, visiting trade shows came in a close second at 63%; above trade magazines and social media. The Goggle executive failed to even mention this fact in her presentation. After all, she was only trying to sell her digital platform.

It’s not rocket science, face-to-face marketing works. Trade shows are an extremely effective way to market your products or services. It is still very important to look your customer in the eye, shake their hand and make a deal. This tried and true method remains a very significant marketing tool.

Jim McCombe, Project Manager, has over 22 years of experience in the trade show industry. It’s rare to find someone with such broad knowledge in all aspects of our business. Jim brings a wealth of talent to Exhibit Systems. His contributions will surely take the quality and efficiency programs to even higher levels. “I’ve been given a unique challenge,” Jim said. “Exhibit Systems is allowing me the freedom to call on my experience to create better ways to do what they already do well. “

Tom Panosh

Tom Panosh, Exhibit Services Manager, has 13 years in industry experience. It’s critical in this industry to have an eye for details, yet also be able to effectively juggle them all at once. As we grow our business, Tom will orchestrate all the trade show I&D complexities, so that our clients can focus on their marketing objectives. “I’ve met the entire staff and I’m really struck by how everyone exudes enthusiasm,” Tom says. “You can feel the positive energy in the air.”

Scott Wedel

Scott Wedel, Customer Solutions Expert, brings over 20 years of solution-based business development experience to Exhibit Systems. His award-winning success, in varied industry sectors, makes him an excellent resource for our diverse range of clients. “It’s an exciting time to join Exhibit Systems. What attracted me to them was the unique dynamic to their culture,” said Scott. “Despite the uncertainty of the general economic environment, they’re investing in new talent, tools and resources; all focused on bringing greater value to their clients. I really look forward to working with such a dedicated team of professionals.”

Alice Werni, Office Manager, has over 20 years experience in accounting and office management. Throughout her career Alice has worked closely with CFO’s, accountants, and senior management. She has implemented complex new systems and directives while keeping the books, purchasing, routing internal communications and managing staff. She’s like a Swiss Army Knife! We feel very lucky to have wrestled her from her previous employer. “I can’t help but to feel that I’m in the right place at the right time,” said Alice. “This company shares my passion for efficiency and quality. It’s encouraging to know that I’ll be directly involved in their future success.”

We are very excited about our future here at Exhibit Systems, and the addition of these four very talented and dedicated individuals will be a big part of our company for many years to come.

As Exhibit Systems continue to grow as a company, we have fine-tuned our philosophy and working relationships into a plan we call our 12 Points of Culture. Every now and then we will highlight one point with a short example of how we try to live out these attributes. This month our Point of Culture is…

Thanksgiving

We remember to be thankful for the opportunities in our workplace and for our family and friends.

Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away, so besides it being the beginning of the Christmas shopping season, it is a time to gather with your family and friends and reflect upon the role we play in each other’s lives.

Tradition tells us that the Thanksgiving holiday originated with the pilgrims in Plymouth in the early 1600’s. There is also evidence that the Spanish explorers in Florida celebrated their harvest feast as early as 1565. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the holiday to be in November each year, and then in 1943, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a bill into law making it the fourth Thursday in November.

Today Thanksgiving is one of our most popular holidays, and together with Christmas and New Years is the first part of the holiday season. Traditionally it’s a time to gather together at grandma’s house for a big turkey meal. We spend 8 hours preparing the great feast and about 12 minutes to devour it. Is it a coincidence that halftimes are also 12 minutes? Please enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday and have a safe and wonderful time. And remember, all diets are postponed for the weekend, (and thanks for elastic waistbands).

Some good news in the trade show industry… the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) has released it’s semiannual report that shows the exhibition industry gained 2.4% in the first half of 2011. It actually did better than the US economy. And after the gain in the second half of last year, the future really is looking bright.

Our workload here at Exhibit Systems reflects the upward trend, as we’ve got more projects on our books than we’ve had in a long time. And what’s really nice is that the projects are good sized, with some very exciting and creative solutions.

This positive outlook is keeping us on our toes, enabling us to add two more talented and experienced individuals to our staff. We’ve hired a project manager and an exhibit services manager, and we are getting ready to add another member to our sales team. Hey, we’re trying to do our share to help in this recession.

The Lallemand booth was unique because of the two curves structures were part of a rental package. The counters, table and stools were also rented, making the whole display very easy on their set-up and budget.

Rental displays are no longer the boring flatwalls of the past, but instead they can be just as creative and exciting as the custom exhibits you see on the trade show floor.

On Wednesday June 8, Exhibit Systems had a very interesting seminar at our facility. Lynn Reves, VP at Nomadic Display in Springfield, VA gave a talk to crowd of trade show marketers. The event was very successful, with nearly a full house for the presentation. Networking with plenty of food and drink followed at the open house.

Lynn Reves from Nomadic Display

Lynn’s subject was “Targeting Your Audience: Trends for Today and Tomorrow.” We had some very positive feedback from the talk. Here’s a few examples –

“Excellent presentation, and good explanation of how to apply traditional sales and marketing strategy to exhibit design”

“Engaging customer in different ways, thinking outside the box”

“Lots of new ideas/trends for trade shows”

“Great ideas for us to use”

We also got some great ideas for the next seminar from a number of attendees. A few of the ideas were –

“Exhibit styles to attract the audience most effectively”

“Ideas for pre, during and post show activities”

“Post show metrics”

We’re already planning the next event, stay tuned, and hopefully we’ll see you next time.
