Being a blood donor is a relatively easy thing to do, but we made it even easier by hosting a blood drive with the BloodCenter of Wisconsin’s Bloodmobile unit in our parking lot on May 13.
“This is the second time Exhibit Systems has hosted a blood drive, and this time we had more than 30 people participate,” said Patrick Brooks.
Every month, Exhibit Systems employees focus on a different Point of Culture and incorporate unique activities that illustrate each point.
“Our blood drive was actually part of our March Point of Culture: Reliable,” explained Brooks. “However, we postponed the activity due to our move, and I think that actually helped increase our participation because our new location in Brookfield is in such a great location.”
This year, donors included Exhibit Systems employees, friends, family and community members. Exhibit Systems, in conjunction with Champion Logistics Group, also made sure that donors were well rewarded with snacks and beverages, including chocolate-covered strawberries.
The need for blood donations never stops. According to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, patients in local hospitals use nearly 800 pints of blood every day, and only about half of that is collected at the BloodCenter’s donor centers. In the Milwaukee area, the BloodCenter of Wisconsin supplies 100 percent of the blood used to more than 50 community hospitals. Mobile blood drives are a critical part of meeting that ongoing need in communities … and a very rewarding way for all of us to do our part in saving lives.
Exhibit Systems holds an annual Blood Drive every spring, so watch for the announcement. Your contributions are always welcome and will go a long way to helping others.
